CineEurope is the official annual convention of UNIC and the premier get-together of the cinema exhibition community in Europe. It is organised in collaboration with Prometheus Global Media (PGM). The convention offers a unique opportunity to interact with stakeholders from the sector. It includes a trade-show, an innovative conference programme of highest relevance to European exhibitors and screenings of upcoming films.

Cinema: Digital Innovation Award

The “Cinema: Digital Innovation Award”
The “Cinema: Digital Innovation Award” is an award set up by the International Union of Cinemas for digital entrepreneurs and developers to showcase their talents to the industry, potential clients and investors at the CineEurope convention. Candidates are invited to submit radical project proposals on how film theatres/ cinemas can better engage with cinema-going audiences using digital technology, social networking, data mashing, location-based services and smartphone applications.
The inaugural edition of the “Cinema: Digital Innovation Award” was met with enthusiasm and gathered more than 40 outstanding project proposals from 15 different countries. From the three finalists who presented their ideas at CineEurope 2012 on Monday, June 18, the project WeWantCinema by Marieke Jonker was voted as the winner by the audience and received a prize of € 5000 kindly sponsored by Orange.
