CineEurope (18-21 June 2012, Barcelona, Spain)

CineEurope is the official convention of UNIC and the premier get-together of the cinema exhibition community in Europe. It is organised in collaboration with Prometheus Global Media (PGM), hosts of CineEurope’s predecessor Cinema Expo International.

Marking a historic change, CineEurope 2012 will be held from June 18 to June 21 2012 at El Centro de Convenciones Internacional de Barcelona, Spain. PGM and UNIC, in collaboration with its international partners, will screen the most exciting upcoming films, showcase latest products, services and industry trends and offer an innovative conference programme that is of the highest relevance to European exhibitors. The conference venue is located in the Diagonal Mar area, in close proximity to one of the most beautiful beaches of Barcelona. The conference centre is approximately 10-15 minutes from city centre via the Metro.

The “Cinema: Digital Innovation Award”

The “Cinema: Digital Innovation Award” is an award set up by the International Union of Cinemas for digital entrepreneurs and developers to showcase their talents to the industry at the event, potential clients and investors – and to win a cash prize of € 5000. Candidates are invited to submit radical project proposals on how film theatres/ cinemas can better engage with cinema-going audiences using digital technology, social networking, data mashing, location-based services and smartphone applications.The initial deadline for applications is tight, being 31 May 2012, but as you will see further below, we are at this stage only looking for summary proposals.
