The event opened with welcoming words from Into Film CEO Paul Reeves and was followed by a keynote speech by film director Sarah Gavron. Lucy Jones from Comscore then presented a study looking into cinema-going trends amongst young audiences in the UK. UNIC CEO Laura Houlgatte then took part in a panel moderated by Monica Chadha together with Adam Rubins (CEO, Way to Blue) and Otto Turton (Group Director of Screen Content, Vue International) to talk about young people and cinemas, focusing on the following questions: How to increase their attendance? What are they looking for? What should distribution & exhibition be doing? What can we learn from other countries?
The event gathered around 50 participants from all across the British film sector and was also the occasion to unveil the new Into Film/Cinema First and BFI publication, the "Regaining Young Audiences" study - available here.
