UNIC attended the Norwegian Cinema Conference, organised by the national cinema association Film&Kino from 4 to 7 November in Lillehammer, hosted by Clarissa Berg.

This annual event brought together more than 200 Norwegian cinema operators and professionals, as well as international industry stakeholders, for 4 days of presentations, panels and networking.

On 4 November, the conference kicked off with an update on the Norwegian cinema industry by Espen Pedersen, CEO of the Norwegian Cinema Association. This was followed by an afternoon of panels and presentations on unattended retail, inclusion and diversity, advertisement, AI and insights from Nordisk.

On 5 November, State Secretary Even Aleksander Hagen presented the government’s strategy for cinemas and films. The day was then dedicated to presentations and panels on topics like Cinema innovation & AI, young people and marketing, HR, sound, repertory films, audience insights and creativity.

On 6 November, attendees talked about maximising audiences, sustainability, the Danish film agreement and the programme then switched to technology for the afternoon and the following day. Sound, motion sitting, AI, HDR, laser projection, cybersecurity, immersive sound among other things were discussed.

This conference served as a perfect occasion to meet the diverse range of Norwegian cinema operators. The full programme is here. Congratulations to Film&Kino for organising such a successful event!
