From France, Richard Patry (President, FNCF) and Marc-Olivier Sebbag (Délégué général, FNCF) joined UNIC CEO Laura Houlgatte for a series of meetings with policy makers and industry partners, including MEPs, Permanent Representation, and colleagues from studios.
Discussions focused on the cultural, social, and economic importance of cinemas in France and across the EU.
Key policy issues addressed included theatrical exclusivity, territoriality of copyright and geoblocking, support for film and audiovisual works under the proposed AgoraEU/MEDIA+ programme, and the fight against piracy. Participants also discussed the AVMSD review, the proposed Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition, and the protection of copyright in the context of AI.
