National Cinema Days in 2025

Throughout 2025, National Cinema Days across Europe successfully attracted millions of visitors to the Big Screen, often setting new records and defying seasonal trends.

In France, Printemps du Cinéma welcomed over 2.2 million visitors in March, while the summer's La Fête du Cinéma recorded 3 million admissions, bolstered by local hits like 13 Jours 13 Nuits and international titles such as F1.

Germany reached a historic milestone with its fourth Kinofest. With 1.65 million tickets sold in just two days, it was the most successful edition to date and recorded the most-attended cinema weekend of the decade. Similarly, Austria launched its own Kinofest, resulting in its most successful Saturday of the last five years.

In Spain, the spring edition of Fiesta del Cine saw nearly 1.3 million visitors - the best spring performance since 2019 with a 52% increase in attendance compared to the June 2024 edition - while the autumn edition was led by three Spanish films for the first time since the launch of the event.

Italy also saw strong momentum with the June edition of Cinema in Festa rising 42% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, a new initiative funded by Italian Ministry of Culture was launched: Happy Cinefamily. It offered a €2.50 discount on the ticket price for children under 12 and two accompanying adults, across all films from 26 September until the end of 2025.

The Netherlands reported a successful second edition of Bioscoop10daagse (B10D), a new format with 10 days of special deals, events and dedicated promotion of cinema-going. The 2025 edition saw a doubled market share for Dutch films, a higher occupancy rate and an increased number of participating venues.

Belgium’s We Love Cinema Days also grew by 10%, supported by a new "buy one get one free" formula. In Poland, the 10th anniversary edition of Swieto Kina brought together 263 cinemas and over 500,000 visitors.

In the Nordics, Sweden’sStora Biodagen recorded 125,000 admissions, making it the biggest cinema day of the year nationwide. Norway and Finland also maintained steady engagement through their respective events, despite shifting schedules.

Beyond Europe, Saudi Arabia hosted a highly successful National Cinema Weekend. The initiative saw a 111% increase in attendance compared to the previous weekend, with local Arabic content accounting for nearly half of all admissions.

We’re looking forward to even more successful results in 2026!
