UNIC supports MEP Verheyen's statement

In light of the current Coronavirus pandemic, UNIC would like to voice its wholehearted support for the statement made by Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, MEP Sabine Verheyen, on 27 March.

We simply can’t stress enough that, for our sector as is the case for many, time is of the absolute essence.

The rapid mobilisation and distribution of financial support is therefore of the utmost importance.

Many within Europe’s creative and cultural sectors will depend on such funding to weather the storm and, should it not get there in time, the consequences for the sectors, their workers, partners and audiences alike, will be nothing short of catastrophic.

We therefore call on national governments to act as quickly as possible – there is not a second to lose.

Again, we would like to express our gratitude to MEP Verheyen and her colleagues for keeping Europe’s cultural and creative sectors firmly in mind. We thoroughly look forward to the day when we can welcome you back - along with audiences throughout Europe – to our cinemas to enjoy the Big Screen experience once again!
